Our Rolls-Royce Phantom VII is the black car in the fleet, finished in Diamond Black and seating three passengers with two large cases. Where the white Phantom suits a daytime wedding, this one comes into its own in the evening, at proms, and at occasions where the look is formal rather than bridal.
How is this different from your other Phantom?
Colour and character, mainly. This car is Diamond Black rather than English White, and that changes what it suits. Black reads as evening and formal. It photographs best against lit buildings after dark, where a white car can blow out, and it is the obvious choice when the dress code is black tie.
It also seats three rather than four. For most prom and evening bookings that is not a constraint, because the car is carrying one or two people who want the arrival to themselves. If you need four seats, the white Phantom or the Ghost is the better fit, and we will say so when you enquire rather than letting you find out on the day.
Is it a good prom car?
It is one of the most requested cars we run for proms, and the reasons are straightforward. It arrives slowly, it is unmistakable, and the chauffeur opens the door rather than the student climbing out of a parent car. The black finish also tends to suit prom photographs, which are usually taken in the evening against a lit entrance.
For parents, the practical points matter more. The car is booked for a window rather than a single drop, the chauffeur is DBS checked, and we agree collection arrangements in advance so nobody is negotiating a lift at the end of the night. Can it still be used for a wedding?
Yes, and a black Rolls-Royce is a deliberate choice rather than a compromise. It suits winter weddings, evening ceremonies and couples whose styling is dark and modern rather than traditional. Against a stone or brick venue it reads as formal in a way a white car does not.
Ribbons and floral trim work as normal and we fit them for you, though lighter ribbon colours tend to show better against black than ivory on ivory does against white. How many passengers and how much luggage?
Three passengers and two large cases. It is the smallest capacity of the Rolls-Royce cars we run, which is worth knowing before you book rather than after. For a prom, an evening collection or a couple travelling together it is ample. For a family travelling with hold luggage to an airport, the Ghost is the more sensible booking.
As with every car in the fleet, if the party is larger than the car we run more than one rather than splitting people across journeys. Tell us the numbers when you enquire and we will plan it as one movement.
What is included when you book it?
The booking covers a uniformed chauffeur and door service, and the car is held for your window rather than slotted between other jobs. Evening events make that matter more than people expect, because the arrival time is usually fixed by the venue rather than by you, so we plan the route with the traffic of that hour in mind.
